The Education Law Division of Hollingsworth & Zivitz

Texas Indiana Michigan

Compassionate counselors. Passionate advocates.

Parents frequently do not know their children’s rights in terms of education and services offered by the schools. They can feel intimidated, frustrated, and often at the mercy of the school system. At Hollingsworth & Zivitz, PC, our goal and focus is helping you understand your rights under the law and ensuring that your child has the best chance possible of educationally success. We evaluate your case without cost and help you to develop a plan of action for success. We work with clients throughout Texas, Indiana and Michigan to ensure their child’s education needs are being met.

As education attorneys, we understand the rules and laws which protect your child’s rights. We help you to understand these laws and to use them to ensure your child’s rights are protected. As trial lawyers, we will fight for your child if the school district refuses to follow the law and will be a voice when you need one. In addition to representing special needs and typical students against schools, we have the knowledge and experience to present cases before hearing officers and in state and federal courts. We measure our success by achieving results — not billable hours. Our philosophy is that the best lawyers are passionate about their cases.

Experience Where It Counts.

Our Education Division brings more than a half century of legal experience in special education, general education, and private school matters. Our offices in Indiana, Texas, and Michigan handle hundreds of cases each year ranging from Special Education Due Process, federal appeals, Section 504 complaints and litigation, ADA Matters, Title IX litigation, expulsions, personal injury of students in schools, school shootings and violence, and private school matters.

A Voice When You Need One.

One of the most rewarding facets of our practice is our representation of children with special needs. We are aggressive and passionate about this calling. These people are among the most innocent and vulnerable among us because of their disabilities. When we were in law school, we never dreamed of how fulfilling it could be to represent these inspiring individuals. Many of our disabled clients are non-verbal or have significant speech impairments, so their parents retain us to speak for them. We are their voice to the legal system.

Our areas of practice include, but are not limited to:

Special Education Law

Special Education Due Process Hearings

General Education Legal Matters

Section 504 Hearings

Section 504 and ADA federal litigation

Sexual Harassment in School

School based Juvenile Criminal Matters
