Founding partners and best friends,
Kena Hollingsworth and
Christina Zivitz, met while in college together at the University of Southern Indiana.
Immediately after receiving their undergraduate degrees, they attended
law school together at Robert McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.
Since Kena and Christina were both children of divorce, they were drawn
to family law and to finding better ways of assisting families and children
through such emotionally traumatic times. Kena and Christina clerked together
at family law firms during law school and, upon their graduations in 2001,
they began their legal careers at a family law firm in Indianapolis.
In June 2004, after several years of invaluable experience as family law
associates, Kena and Christina stepped out on their own and formed Hollingsworth
Jocham & Zivitz, P.C. Originally an all-female family law firm once
referred to as "the three blonde girls," Hollingsworth &
Zivitz, P.C., has undergone many positive transitions over the years.
In 2005, the firm expanded to include an education law and juvenile law
department; then, in 2006, the firm further expanded to offer estate planning
and elder law services.
In the summer of 2009, due to continued expansion, the firm relocated its
current offices in to the Two Penn Mark Building at 11555 N. Meridian
Street in Carmel.
In response to the demand of clients and families, Hollingsworth &
Zivitz recognized that representing families sometimes calls for assistance
with issues not pertaining to divorce. With the addition of a former Hamilton
County prosecutor in 2011, Hollingsworth & Zivitz expanded again in
order to assist families who experience criminal issues such as DUIs/OWIs,
minor consumption, possession charges, etc. The firm's practice assisting
families with criminal issues continues to grow with attorneys and staff
in order to meet the needs of clients.
For the last decade, more than half of the HZ attorneys have been named
Indiana "Super Lawyers" and "Super Lawyers Rising Stars" by
Indianapolis Monthly Magazine and
Law & Politics Magazine. Also, since the firm's relocation, in addition to having HZ attorneys
be selected to participate in the Indianapolis Bar Leader Series, Sagamore
Inn of Court, and having a partner named "Distinguished Fellow"
by the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, the firm has been honored as one of
Indiana's Healthiest Employers, and was selected as one of Indiana's
Best Places to Work for several years in a row, including earning first
Hollingsworth & Zivitz has established itself as a leader in divorce
and family law. While divorce and family law continues to be the firm's
primary focus, Hollingsworth & Zivitz, P.C., will continue to be responsive
to the needs of its family law clients and will continue to expand in
ways that better serve them.
